Early Wednesday morning saw intensified bombardment in central Gaza and parts of eastern Gaza City, following a tragic incident on Tuesday that claimed the lives of 12 civilians in Deir al-Balah, a region designated by Israel as a "safe-zone".
According to reports from the Associated Press (AP), nine members of the Hamdan family, including women and children, were among those killed. They had fled Khan Younis following evacuation orders only to face a deadly airstrike upon reaching a building in a northern city.
The situation has exacerbated an already dire humanitarian crisis, with approximately 250,000 Palestinians displaced due to recent Israeli evacuation orders amid the protracted nine-month conflict. On Monday, Israeli forces re-entered Khan Younis, purportedly targeting members of Islamic Jihad.
Local sources have reported casualties from Israeli airstrikes in Maghazi camp in central Gaza and shelling in the Nuseirat refugee camp's north-western area. In Gaza City's Shejaiya neighborhood, fierce battles between Israeli forces and Palestinian militants have unfolded following days of relentless bombardment.
Meanwhile, the United Nations has issued alarming warnings about the catastrophic humanitarian conditions in Gaza. Approximately 80 percent of Palestinians are displaced, grappling with widespread disease, hunger, and a collapsing health infrastructure.
The escalation in violence continues to devastate civilian populations and strain humanitarian efforts, marking another tragic chapter in the ongoing conflict.
