The humanitarian crisis in Gaza has reached a breaking point, as international monitors confirmed that more than half a million people are now facing famine and life-threatening hunger.

According to the latest report by the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC), Gaza City and nearby areas have officially entered the famine stage (Phase 5). The report warns that the situation may worsen rapidly, with the number of people affected possibly rising to over 641,000 by the end of September.

Humanitarian groups describe the famine as entirely man-made, blaming Israel’s restrictions on aid, food, and medicine entering Gaza. International observers have said this may amount to a war crime under international law.

UN agencies have urgently appealed for immediate access to Gaza, calling for the opening of supply routes to prevent more deaths. However, Israel continues to deny the famine, claiming “no one is starving in Gaza.”

This worsening tragedy has sparked global outrage, with rights groups stressing that without a large-scale humanitarian response, thousands of lives—including children—will be lost in the coming weeks.
